Pockets of togetherness – Tales of resistance is a short publication in forms of a zine with stories about resisting the UK Hostile Environment immigration policies through togetherness and care. It comprises of a selection of texts and photographs from a co-creative workshop weekend with a group of migrant women activists from London. The contributions illustrate how we can use creative participatory research methodologies as alternative and more collective ways of knowledge-production and of building solidarity and communities of care. This zine has come out of a participatory research project in partnership with the South London Refugee Association which I have coordinated as part of my on-going PhD.
As part of my creative practice, I am using sound and music for collective story-telling. ‘Wherever the wind blows them’ was a collaborative creative storytelling session and creative intervention at the LIMINAL Lab’s 2-day ‘Lexicon II – Hostility and Infrastructures of Care’ event in London, February 2025, in artistic collaboration and co-production with Rachel Margetts. Our piece was featured in the European Alternatives Journal issue ‘Margins on Fire’ (October, 2025).
